PPAC FEATURED ARTIST

PPAC (Plainfield Public Arts Council) Selects “The Spark” for it’s New Logo Designed by Local Artist, Justin Cate

After a call for participants, a three month process and design exploration, the PPAC Logo Committee selected a logo designed by Justin Cate – local Creative Director and Illustrator.

Justin, along with a team of participants, presented several concepts for review based on requirements from a provided Creative Brief. After an extensive exploration, options were narrowed by the Logo Committee and the final selection was approved by the PPAC Board. The logo, referred to as ”The Spark” is best explained by the position provided by its designer:

This bold visual identity is inspired by the very first stroke of a pen or pencil, the spark of creativity that ignites the artistic process. Paired with a vibrant, expressive color palette, the design captures the energy and emotion of that initial moment of inspiration.

“We’re really happy with the way the mark turned out and how it visually supports our Mission and encourages expression and the ideation. It’s also a clever and subtle nod to our flagship project we refer to as the ‘wedge’.” – Amy Phillips, PPAC Logo Committee Leader and Corresponding Secretary.

PPAC extends sincere gratitude to all who participated in the design process: Dave Alford, Kristin Callahan, Laura Campbell, Lauren Neilsen and Erick Rohn.
